Stanley Bate (1903-1972) American

Biography/Statement:
An abstract figure painter, designer and illustrator, he served as art supervisor and director at Encyclopedia Britannica in New York from 1927 to 1929. He also taught at the Art Students League of New York, Columbia-Greene Community College, and his illustrations appeared in Outdoor Life, among others.
