Hugo Scheiber (1873-1950)

Biography/Statement:
Hugo Scheiber was a prolific Hungarian modernist painter with deep ties to the early Futurist Movement and German Expressionism. Scheiber became good friends with Filippo Tommaso Marinetti – founder of the Futurist movement, who personally asked Scheiber to join the movement. Throughout his life, Scheiber exhibited in Vienna, Budapest, Berlin, London, Rome, La Paz and New York. He has been exhibited in Centre Georges Pompidou, Musée d’Art el l’Industrie, Saint-Etienne, Yale University Art Gallery, Hungarian National Museum, among many more galleries and institutions.
